CWG 2022: India Create History; Will Fight for Gold Medal vs Aus

Smriti Mandhana and Sneh Rana, the stars as Team India Women enter the final of CWG 2022 to fight for the Gold medal. 

‘Go for Gold’ shall be the motto for the India Women team as they beat the mighty England Women Cricket Team to enter the final of CWG 2022. In their first-ever appearance in CWG, the India Women’s Cricket team would now be competing for the Gold medal vs Australia at CWG 2022. 

Batting first, Smriti Mandhana gave her all with her brisk 61 off 32 balls. Courtesy of her knock and Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten 44 off 31 balls, India reached a respectable total of 164/5 in 20 overs. 

In reply, the England team did have a good start having scored 63 in 6 overs, but India bounced back with regular wickets. In the end, the England Women’s team fell short of the target by 4 runs. Sneh Rana flourished with a brilliant spell of 2/28.

India Women: 164/5 from 20 overs

Smriti Mandhana: 61(32) // Jemimah Rodrigues : 44*(31) 

Freya Kemp: 2/22 // Nat Sciver: 1/26 

England Women: 160/6 from 20 overs

Nat Sciver: 41(43) // Danni Wyatt: 35(27) 

Sneh Rana: 2/28 //  Deepti Shamra: 1/18

Result: India Women won by 4 Runs, and they enter the final of CWG 2022. 

The Gold medal chase for India would be a historic moment. If India are able to maintain their show, it would be a great turning point in Women’s cricket. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur needs to make sure the atmosphere in the dressing room is positive.
