IPL 2023: Complete Squad and Players List for Gujarat Titans (GT)

Gujarat Titans (GT) purchase 7 players in the Auction as we look at their full official squad and players list for IPL 2023.

The IPL 2022 winners, Gujarat Titans were one of the four teams to have retained 18 or more players ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction. They released only a handful of redundant players to fill those gaps in the 2023 Mini Auction.

The Titans did a good job overall having acquired a total of 7 players while spending INR 14.8 crores. The Titans got some really good value buys in the form of Kane Williamson, KS Bharat, and Odean Smith. But they spent big on bowlers, Shivam Mavi and Joshua Little.

The Titans spending INR 6 Crores on Mavi was another highlight of the Auction. KKR did spend a million dollars on Mavi in 2022, and GT repeated the same thing in 2023. It would be interesting to see how Mavi performs in 2023 as his previous IPL performances were less than average.

On top of this, Gujarat Titans made history when they bought Joshua Little, the first Ireland player to be given an IPL contract. Joshua Little isn’t a big name, so would be interesting to see how he drafts himself in the playing 11. Nevertheless, here’s the list of players bought by Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 Auction.

IPL 2023 Auction: Players Bought by Gujarat Titans (GT)

Shivam Mavi [INR 6 Cr], Kane Williamson [INR 2 Cr], Odean Smith [INR 0.5 Cr], KS Bharat [INR 1.2 Cr], Urvil Patel [0.2 Cr], Joshua Little [INR 4.4 Cr], and Mohit Sharma [0.5 Cr].

Overall, the Gujarat Titans have a potent squad. While the squad looks a little inexperienced, we can’t complain much about them as they won the IPL 2022 with a similar squad. The interesting thing about them would be the playing 11 selection as they have a lot of options to choose from.

IPL 2023: Gujarat Titans (GT) Official Squad Details:

B Sai Sudharshan, David Miller [o], Kane Williamson [o], Shubman Gill, KS Bharat [wk], Matthew Wade [o&wk], Urvil Patel [wk], Wriddhiman Saha [wk], Abhinav Manohar, Hardik Pandya [c], Jayant Yadav, Odean Smith [o], Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan [o], Vijay Shankar, Alzarri Joseph [o], Darshan Nalkande, Joshua Little [o], Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad [o], Pradeep Sangwan, R Sai Kishore, Shivam Mavi & Yash Dayal

Total Players for IPL 2023: 25

The kind of players Gujarat Titans bought in the IPL 2023 Auction, it does seem that the playing 11 would undergo a few changes as compared to their IPL 2022 playing 11. From the players that Gujarat bought, we should see Kane Williamson, KS Bharat, and Shivam definitely in the playing 11.

So, expect KS Bharat to come in for Wriddhiman Saha, Kane Williamson for B Sai Sudharsan, and Shivam Mavi for Alzarri Joseph / Lockie Ferguson, who is now traded to KKR. Apart from these three changes, Yash Dayal / R Sai Kishore may alter depending on the kind of pitch Gujarat play.

Overall, Gujarat’s best playing 11 should see Shubman Gill and KS Bharat as openers. Kane Williamson, Hardik Pandya, and David Miller in the middle-order. Odean Smith may play ahead of Matthew Wade for an additional bowling option, but for now, Wade seems a better bet alongside Tewatia for the finisher role. Meanwhile, the bowling shall rely on Rashid Khan, Shivam Mavi, Mohammed Shami, and R Sai Kishore.
