Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) purchase 10 players in the Auction as we look at their full official squad and players list for IPL 2023.
The KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants had retained only 15 players ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction. However, unlike a few other teams, LSG did utilize their full quota of 25 players. They purchased a total of 10 players to make sure they have 25 players in their squad.
Lucknow made headlines in the IPL 2023 Auction when they went all-out after Nicholas Pooran. Even as Pooran has failed to deliver so far in IPL, the purchase of Nicholas Pooran feels completely in line with their gap strategy.
They let go of a redundant and expensive overseas player Jason Holder. So, they needed an aggressive middle-order batter to go with. Thankfully, given the purse they had, they didn’t mind spending INR 16 crores on Pooran; even as it looks completely overpriced.

Talking about the first-choice playing 11 for Lucknow Super Giants, it looks way better than their IPL 2022 playing 11. While the top 4 remain the same in the form of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Deepak Hooda, and Ayush Badoni, the addition of Nicholas Pooran along with the existing Marcus Stoinis makes this an aggressive batting line-up.
Lucknow then have Krunal Pandya at number 7, which is a good batting option to have. The addition of Mark Wood in place of Chameera adds to the strength in bowling with Avesh, Mohsin, and Bishnoi already present. Overall, Lucknow have 7 bowling options, which is superb to have.
