IPL 2023: Official Squad and Players List for Delhi Capitals (DC)

Delhi Capitals (DC) purchase 5 players in the Auction as we look at their full official squad and players list for IPL 2023. 

The Delhi Capitals were the team that retained the most number of Players ahead of the Auction, 20. The team was already set even before going into the Auction. All they needed was a few good backup options, and they went a step further by getting much more than the backups. 

Delhi Capitals spent only INR 15 Cr in the Auction, and purchased five players; thus completing their quota of 25 players. They got 3 Indian players in the form of Manish Pandey, Ishant Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar and 2 overseas players in the form of Rilee Rossouw and Phil Salt. 

Overall, the purchase of Mukesh Kumar was the highlight for Delhi Capitals from the Auction. Given that they spent INR 5.5 Cr on him and his recent India A heroics, he could give a tough fight for the playing 11. Similar is the experience of Manish Pandey, which cannot be ignored too. So, here’s the list of the players purchased by Delhi Capitals and their Auction price for IPL 2023.

Mukesh Kumar [INR 5.5 Cr], Manish Pandey [INR 2.4 Cr], Rille Rossouw [INR 4.6 Cr], Ishant Sharma [INR 0.5 Cr], and Phil Salt [INR 2 Cr]. 

Overall, in terms of the squad, Delhi Capitals look well-balanced in all areas; except for one area. The team has only one Indian keeper in the form of Rishabh Pant. The Backup for Pant is  Phil Salt. So, in case Pant gets injured or is unavailable, the playing 11 may see drastic changes.

Total Players for IPL 2023: 25 

Coming to the playing 11 of Delhi Capitals, it looks inspired by their 2022 campaign. They have David Warner and Prithvi Shaw as openers with All-rounder Mitchell Marsh to follow. Whereas Captain Rishabh Pant shall hold the fort at the number 4 position. 

Number 5 is the place that may see a change with the purchase of Manish Pandey. While Delhi Capitals can look at young Yash Dhull, finisher Sarfaraz Khan or All-rounder Lalit Yadav at number 5, just for the experience, they would persist with Manish Pandey early on. 

The rest of the lineup remains the same except for Mukesh Kumar, who could get a nod ahead of Chetan Sakariya. So, we have Rovman Powell and Axar Patel as finishers, Kuldeep Yadav as the lead spinner, and Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar, and Khaleel Ahmed as three pacers.
