Rishabh Pant becomes the first Indian player to score 1000+ International runs in a calendar year in 2022 as we deep dive into this unique record.

The decade 2021-2030 certainly belongs to Rishabh Pant. It started in 2021 when Rishabh Pant smashed 1000+ runs in a calendar year for Team India. It continues now as Rishabh Pant becomes the first Indian player to score 1000+ International runs in a calendar year.

One of the only few players to represent Team India in all 3 formats, Rishabh Pant currently has 1103 runs under his belt from 30 innings. Out of these, he has scored 532 runs in Tests at an average of 66.5. 311 runs in ODIs at an average of 44.4. Whereas 260 runs from 13 innings in T20Is have come at an average of 26. 

Rishabh Pant had scored 1116 runs last year, and he is just 13 runs away from breaking this record. Importantly, he has excelled in his performance this year with better returns in the T20I format. With almost 4 months to go, Rishabh Pant has the opportunity to surpass 1500+ runs this calendar year.

Meanwhile, following Rishabh Pant is Shreyas Iyer, who has 900 runs under his belt; albeit at a decent average of 42.9. Number 3 is Suryakumar Yadav with 644 runs. Surya plays only 2 formats, but is currently India’s MVP in T20Is. Two of these three will be playing a crucial role for team India in Asia Cup 2022.

Iyer might find it difficult to make it to the squad, but Pant and SKY will be crucial for Team India. India shall also hope Rishabh Pant continues his golden form in the coming year, and serves Indian cricket for a very long time.
