Top 5 Highest Boundary Percentage in T20 World Cup 2022

The Super 12 stage of the 2022 T20 World Cup finished with some surprising results. While Australia fell short of the semi-final spot owing to poor NRR, South Africa, the favorites from Group 2 lost to the Netherlands to lose the semi-final spot. Finally, England and New Zealand from Group 1 and India and Pakistan from Group 2 qualified for the Semis. 

Even as Australia fell short of the semis spot, their batters were outstanding when it came to hitting boundaries. Similar was the case with South Africa, which had two belligerent batters in the form of Quinton de Kock and Rille Rossouw.

But how about the top 5 batters with the best boundary percentage in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022? Well, let’s find out in this article. To simplify things, boundary percentage refers to the percentage of runs scored in boundaries from the total runs scored by the player. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – Top 5 Highest Boundary Percentage for Super 12 Stage 

#5: Mitchell Marsh (Australia) – 64.2% 

Inns: 4 // Runs: 106 // SR: 130.9 // Boundary%: 64.2%

Number 5 on the list is Mitchell Marsh, who even with a strike rate of 130.9 has achieved a boundary percentage of 64.2%. This is the lowest strike rate among the top 5 contenders for the highest boundary percentage. Overall, Mitchell Marsh didn’t have a good tournament as he could only manage 106 runs from 4 innings with 68 runs in boundaries.   

#4: Marcus Stoinis (Australia) – 65.1% 

Inns: 4 // Runs: 126 // SR: 161.5 // Boundary%: 65.1%

Number 4 on the list is another Australian, Marcus Stoinis, who was best known for his blitzkrieg against Sri Lanka. Stoinis had a good T20 World Cup 2022 as he smashed a total of 126 runs with 82 runs in boundaries at a boundary percentage of 65.1%. His knock against Sri Lanka where he smashed 59 off 18 balls had the highest strike rate in an innings for this World Cup at 327.8.  

#3: Suryakumar Yadav (India) – 65.8% 

Inns: 5 // Runs: 225 // SR: 193.9 // Boundary%: 65.8%

Undoubtedly the most belligerent batter of the tournament so far. Adjectives would fall short for the kind of batting display we have seen from Suryakumar Yadav. Not only did he score runs but he also scored those runs at a rapid pace.

Out of his 225 runs from 5 innings, he scored 148 runs in boundaries; the most by any batter in the Super 12 stage. He hit 25 fours so far, which is again the most by any batter so far. In addition, his strike rate of 193.9 is the best among all batters with 100 runs or more. 

#2: Glenn Maxwell (Australia) – 67.8% 

Inns: 4 // Runs: 118 // SR: 161.4 // Boundary%: 67.8%

With the second-best boundary percentage of 67.8%, Glenn Maxwell is the third Australian on the list. Maxi smashed a total of 118 runs from 4 innings with 80 runs in boundaries. Maxwell got starts in all 4 innings, but his match-winning aggressive knock came against Afghanistan where he smashed 54 off 32 balls. 

#1: Quinton de Kock (South Africa) – 75.8% 

Inns: 5 // Runs: 124 // SR: 161.0 // Boundary%: 75.8%

Number 1 on the list is the South African opener, Quinton de Kock. Of the top 5 players on this list, Quinton de Kock is the only opener. De Kock smashed a total of 124 runs from 5 innings with 94 runs in boundaries. His boundary percentage of 75.8 is almost 8 percentage points more than second-best Maxwell.
