Team India Rope in Paddy Upton for Special Coaching Assignment

With a packed schedule going forward, Team India have roped in Paddy Upton as the mental conditioning coach.

The ongoing pandemic has taught a lot of lessons to the players across sporting arenas. The one biggest factor that the pandemic has affected the players a lot is the mental fatigue. Given the playing conditions under Bio bubbles, COVID-19 challenges and continues matches, Mental fatigue is increasing.

With Team India having a packed schedule going forward, it is important for the players to stay mentally fit. So, to counter these challenges, Team India have roped in Paddy Upton as the mental conditioning coach. He is set to join India ahead of the 5-match T20 series vs West Indies.

To recap, Paddy Upton and Rahul Dravid had worked together in the early 2010s during the flag end of Rahul Dravid’s career. He was also a part of the 2011 World Cup winning squad under Gary Kirsten and MS Dhoni.

The next two big tournaments, T20 World Cup 2022 and ODI World Cup 2023 are very crucial for the Indian team. Hopefully, Paddy Upton brings out the best out of Indian players, and maintains their mental peace.

Asia Cup 2022:

Team India’s immediate next assignment is the Asia Cup 2022. India would be hoping to make amends against Pakistan first on August 28 and then win the tournament on September 11, 2022. This would be a huge boost to the Indian team ahead of T20 World Cup 2022. To recap, India have both the recent editions of the Asia Cup. They did it in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
