WTC Final 2023: Complete Updated Squad Players List for India

Ishan Kishan added as we look at the updated squad and players list for India vs Australia WTC Final 2023.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, May 8 updated on Team India’s squad for the WTC Final 2023 vs Australia. KL Rahul suffered an unfortunate upper thigh injury during IPL 2023, and was then ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2023 and WTC Final 2023.

While BCCI named a replacement for KL Rahul, three additional reserve players were also added to the squad in lieu of the injury concerns for two premier pacers, Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav. BCCI updated on the fitness of Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav.

It is understood that Unadkat sustained a left shoulder injury while bowling in the nets. After consultation, Unadkat has joined the NCA, and is currently under rehabilitation. Whereas for Umesh Yadav, he sustained a minor left hamstring injury during Match 36 of IPL 2023. Umesh is currently under the supervision of the KKR team. 

Additional Backups

Both Umesh and Jaydev aren’t ruled out of WTC Final 2023, and the decision on their participation shall be close to the WTC Final 2023 start date. As a safeguard measure, BCCI has added three reserve players to the team, who may also travel to England as backups. 

BCCI has added opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, Middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav, and Pacer Mukesh Kumar as the reserve players for WTC Final 2023. Both Ruturaj and SKY are ins tunning form in current IPL 2023, and were also in contention for the Test team. Similarly, Mukesh was also in contention for the Indian Test team.
