Team India Women have concluded their first half of the 2023 Bangladesh tour in a not-so-convincing but effective manner. While leading the T20 series 2-0, Bangladesh prevented a whitewash by winning the 3rd T20I, thus ending the series 2-1 in Team India’s favour.

The focus now shifts to 50-over format which Team India would be playing after a gap of almost 10 months. September 2022 was the last time Indian women played an ODI, and the squad has seen some drastic changes since then including the retirement of veteran player Jhulan Goswami. 

Surprisingly, this would be the first time India would be playing an ODI series vs Bangladesh women in Bangladesh. Overall, India have played Bangladesh women 5 times, and ended as victorious on all 5 occasions. The last time India played Bangladesh was on March 2022.

Openers – Shafali Verma & Smriti Mandhana

Team India played Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma as their openers for the T20 series. While India have Priya Punia in the ODI squad as an opener, it is unlikely she would get an opportunity. So, we should see the same opening combination for the ODI series as well.

Middle-order – Yastika Bhatia (wk), Jemimah Rodrigues & Harmanpreet Kaur (c)

The middle-order shouldn’t change either for Team India with wicket-keeper Yastika Bhatia at 3, Jemimah Rodrigues at 4, and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur at 5. These three form for a solid middle-order, and the only change that can happen is the change in the batting order. 

Lower-order – Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma & Sneh Rana

For the lower-order, Team India should have Sneh Rana, who has been specifically picked for the ODI series. With All-rounder Sneh Rana in the loop in place of Minnu Mana, Harleen Deol and Deepti Sharma should complete the rest of the lower-order for Team India. 

Bowlers – Devika Vaidya, Pooja Vastrakar & Meghna Singh

For the bowling, India played quite a thin bowling line-up in the T20 series. But expect that to change in the ODI series with Devika Vaidya and Meghna Singh getting an opportunity in place of Anusha Bareddy and Amanjot Kaur. Devika Vaidya has the experience, and so does Meghna Singh, which will be beneficial for Team India for the ODI series.
