The first edition of Women’s Premier League (A Name for Women’s IPL) shall kick-start on March 4 with Gujarat Giants taking on Mumbai Indians. WPL 2023 GG vs MI Predicted Playing XIs for Both Teams

The Gujarat team shall see Captain Beth Mooney alongside Sophia Dunkley as the two strong openers in the squad. Given the investment in foreign batters, we should see Ashleigh Garnder at 3 and Deandra Dottin at 5. In terms of Indian batters, Gujarat Giants will have to rely upon Sushma Verma, Harleen Deol, and Ashwani Kumari.

While Sushma Verma and Ashwani Kumari are more of part-time all-rounders, Gujarat’s main finishers are Harleen Deol and Sneh Rana. Both are regular in the Indian T20I setup, and complete a strong line-up for Gujarat. Following them shall be three pacers, Monica Patel, Mansi Joshi, and Tanuja Kanwer.

Coming to Mumbai Indians’ playing 11, it seems to be too batting-centric. The team has a strong top 5 in the form of Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia, Nat Sciver, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Amelia Kerr. In addition, the team has three good finishers in the form of Amonjot Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar, and Priyanka Bala.

However, that’s about it for Mumbai Indians as the bowling is extremely weak for them. Other than the all-rounders, who will have to do the bulk of the bowling, Mumbai Indians have only Saika Ishaque, Humaira Kazi, and Isabelle Wong as the primary bowlers in the squad. Of the three, only Isabelle Wong is the most reliable and strong option that they have.
