IPL 2024 KKR New Squad and Latest Official Players List

Shreyas Iyer returns as Captain as we look at the IPL 2024 KKR new squad and the updated Kolkata Knight Riders players list post the Auction.

The 2-times champions, Kolkata Knight Riders will be beginning their 2024 campaign with new hope running in their head. It was almost 10 years back in 2014 when they last won an IPL trophy, and under the able leadership of Captain Shreyas Iyer and mentor Gautam Gambhir, they will be looking to repeat the triumph.

But how is the KKR team placed for IPL 2024? Well, KKR had retained only 13 players ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. They had a heavy purse going into the Auction, but much to our surprise, 70% of the purse was spent on acquiring the services of just one player, Mitchell Starc. Sure, Starc’s addition does bring a lot of experience, but to get him, KKR let go off a lot of quality players in the Auction. 

IPL 2024 KKR New Squad and Players List:

KKR now have 23 players in their pool with 8 being overseas players. The team will be excited by the return of Shreyas Iyer, who missed the 2023 campaign due to injury. Shreyas Iyer will lead the side for the 2024 campaign with Nitish Rana as his deputy. Overall, KKR have 6 batters, 2 wicket-keepers, 6 all-rounders, 3 spinners, and 6 pacers in their squad. So, here’s the IPL 2024 KKR new squad list. 

Batters: Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Jason Roy (o), Manish Pandey, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh & Shreyas Iyer (c)

KKR had retained 4 batters going into the Auction in the form of Jason Roy, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, and Shreyas Iyer. With quality batters already present, KKR added backups in the form of Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Manish Pandey. It’s a homecoming for Manish Pandey, who was a part of KKR’s triumph in 2014.  

WKs: KS Bharat & Rahmanullah Gurbaz (o)

KKR had retained only 1 wicket-keeper in their squad in the form of Rahmanullah Gurbaz. They were in desperate need of an Indian wicket-kepeer, and to compensate for that, KRK got in KS Bharat. Of course, KS Bharat isn’t a big name in the IPL, but can be a potential option if given a long run in the tournament. 

All-rounders: Andre Russell (o), Anukul Roy, Ramandeep Singh,  Sherfane Rutherford (o), Sunil Narine (o) & Venkatesh Iyer

Coming to the IPL 2024 KKR new squad all-rounders, KKR have 6 in their squad with 4 being pace all-rounders and 2 being spin all-rounders. Andre Russell shall lead the pace all-rounder duties with support from Ramandeep Singh, Sherfane Rutherford, and Venkatesh Iyer. Whereas Anukul Roy shall lead the spin all-rounder duties with support from Sunil Narine. 

Spinners: Mujeeb Rahman (o), Suyash Sharma & Varun Chakravarthy

For the IPL 2024 KKR new squad spin department, there’s plenty of quality in the KKR side. In addition to spin all-rounders Sunil Narine and Anukul Roy, KKR have Mujeeb ur Rahman, Suyash Sharma, and Varun Chakravarthy as their primary spinners. Needless to say, this is one of the best spin attacks in the IPL. 

Pacers: Chetan Sakariya, Gus Atkinson (o), Harshit Rana, Mitchell Starc (o), Sakib Hussain & Vaibhav Arora 

Pace bowling is where KKR did most of their shopping. The team lacked quality pace bowlers, and to compensate for that, KKR bought Mitchell Starc, Gus Atkinson, Chetan Sakariya, and Sakib Hussain. Other than these four, KKR already had Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana. So, here’s the complete IPL 2024 KKR new squad list.

Batters: Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Jason Roy (o), Manish Pandey, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh & Shreyas Iyer (c)

WKs: KS Bharat & Rahmanullah Gurbaz (o)

All-rounders: Andre Russell (o), Anukul Roy, Ramandeep Singh,  Sherfane Rutherford (o), Sunil Narine (o) & Venkatesh Iyer

Bowlers: Chetan Sakariya, Gus Atkinson (o), Harshit Rana, Mitchell Starc (o), Mujeeb Rahman (o), Sakib Hussain, Suyash Sharma, Vaibhav Arora & Varun Chakravarthy

Coming to KKR’s best first-choice playing 11 irrespective of the impact player rule, we should see Rahmanullah Gurbaz as the opener alongside Venkatesh Iyer. Nitish Rana should play at 3 with Shreyas Iyer at 4. Rinku Singh at 5 and Andre Russell at 6 should complete the finishing duties. Whereas Sunil Narine, Mitchell Starc, Harshit Rana, Suyash Sharma, and Varun Chakravarthy should complete their bowling attack. In terms of impact players, we should see KS Bharat, Manish Pandey, Anukul Roy, Vaibhav Arora, and Chetan Sakariya.
