It is going to be epic as the teams face each other for the eighth time in the Cricket World Cup history. Historically, India have had an upper hand having not lost a single match to Pakistan. 

Both teams are filled with explosive players who can turn the match on their own. But who are the 2023 players that are representing both teams in this edition of the World Cup? Well, let’s look at the official squad and players list for India vs Pakistan at the Cricket World Cup 2023.

Batters:

India Batters: Rohit Sharma (c), Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav & Virat Kohli

Pakistan Batters: Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq & Saud Shakeel 

If we talk about the primary batters for India and Pakistan, there’s Captain Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Virat Kohli for Team India. Whereas for Pakistan, there’s Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, and Saud Shakeel. 

Wicket-keepers:

India WKs: Ishan Kishan & KL Rahul

Pakistan WKs: Mohammad Rizwan

Coming to wicket-keepers, India have two options in the form of KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. While KL Rahul bats right-handed, Ishan Kishan bats left-handed. In comparison, there’s only Mohammad Rizwan as the primary wicket-keeper for Pakistan.  

All-rounders:

India All-rounders: Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja

Pakistan All-rounders: Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim, Salman Ali Agha & Shadab Khan

Coming to All-rounders, India have a fantastic trio in the form of Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja. While Hardik is a pace all-rounder, Jadeja and Ashwin are spin all-rounders. For Pakistan, there’s Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim, Salman Ali Agha & Shadab Khan. Of the five, only Wasim Jr. is a pace all-rounder. 

Bowlers:

India Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj & Shardul Thakur

Pakistan Bowlers: Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi & Usama Mir

For the primary bowling unit, Team India are stacked up with Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur. Of the five names, only Kuldeep Yadav bowls spin. Whereas for Pakistan, we have Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, and Usama Mir. Of the four names, only Usama Mir bowls spin.
