MI purchase 8 players in the Auction as we look at official IPL 2023 Mumbai Indians squad and players list. 

The Mumbai Indians team made headlines even before the IPL 2023 Auction when they retained only 16 players; quite unlike their past strategy. They released a lot of players in the pool including some promising young talent, which they generally invest for a 2-3 years period.

But they did amend that in the Auction when they bought a total of 8 players to make sure they have a near-to-full squad for IPL 2023. MI’s most prominent buy was Cameron Green, whom they purchased for a salary of 17.5 Cr; the second-most expensive player in the history of IPL.

Apart from him, almost all players that MI bought were purchased at a base price. So, here’s the list of all players and their purchase price bought by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2023.

Overall, Mumbai Indians have a decent squad with the focus purely on match winners. If we look at their best first-choice playing 11, Mumbai Indians have 4-5 potential match winners that can win matches single-handedly.

But remove them, and we have an inexperienced Mumbai Indians squad. The only thing Mumbai Indians will have to hope for is they don’t see any injuries in their first-choice 11. So, here’s the complete list of players list for Mumbai Indians for IPL 2023.

Meanwhile, talking about the best first-choice playing 11 for Mumbai Indians, 5 of their top 6 players remain the same as we had seen in IPL 2022. So, we have Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan as openers and Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Tim David as the other 3 middle-order players,

The only change that we are witnessing is the addition of Cameron Green, who shall most-likely play at the number 3 position. Apart from these 6, MI’s lower-order is slightly thin, and they will have to completely rely on Jofra Archer and Kumar Kartikeya. 

Meanwhile, MI have a good bowling attack with Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah leading the charge as two fantastic options. Jason Behrendorff shall act as the third pacer and Piyush Chawla and Kumar Kartikeya shall act as the two spinners in the squad.
