IPL 2024 MI Team Players List and New Official Squad

Hardik Pandya to lead as we look at the IPL 2024 MI Team Players list and Mumbai Indians new squad details for the tournament.

The Mumbai Indians team made the maximum noise between the 2023 IPL and the 2024 IPL Auction. The team saw some amazing transition as Hardik Pandya was traded in from Gujarat Titans in an all-cash deal. Not just that, Hardik also replaced Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the side. The news saw huge backlash from the MI fans, who were unhappy with Rohit being removed as the Captain.

The move certainly made a lot of noise, but keeping those emotions aside, Mumbai Indians have assembled a strong side that will make more noise in the upcoming IPL. While MI had to let go of Cameron Green to accommodate Hardik, the move actually made MI stronger as they got an Indian All-rounder, and Green’s loss will let them play an additional Overseas bowler. So, with the official names in front of us, let’s look at the IPL 2024 MI Team players list and final Mumbai Indians squad details. 

IPL 2024 MI Team Players List and New Squad:

Having retained 17 players ahead of the Auction, Mumbai Indians added 8 more to make it a squad of 25. With 25 players present in the MI camp currently, they have 5 batters, 2 wicket-keepers, 9 All-rounders, 3 frontline spinners, and 6 frontline pacers in their side. So, let’s look at the IPL 2024 MI Team players list across each category to have an in-depth view of the squad. 

Batters: Dewald Brevis (o), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma & Tim David (o)

Mumbai Indians had 5 batters before the Auction in the form of Dewald Brevis, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Tim David. With such a strong batting unit already present, MI didn’t feel a need to add any further batters to the squad. 

WKs: Ishan Kishan & Vishnu Vinod

Similarly, Mumbai Indians had two wicket-keepers in the squad before the Auction in the form of Ishan Kishan and Vishnu Vinod. Once again, MI didn’t add any new wicket-keepers to the squad from the Auction. 

All-rounders: Anshul Kamboj, Arjun Tendulkar, Hardik Pandya (c), Mohammad Nabi (o), Naman Dhir, Nehal Wadhera, Romario Shephard (o), Shams Mulani & Shivalik Sharma 

Coming to the All-rounders department, MI added four new all-rounders to their side in the form of Anshul Kamboj, Hardik Pandya (c), Mohammad Nabi (o), Naman Dhir, and Shivalik Sharma. While Hardik will lead the side, the addition of new all-rounders means, Nabi and Shephard remain as the key all-rounders with all the other all-rounders as backups. 

Spinners: Kumar Kartikeya, Piyush Chawla & Shreyas Gopal

Talking about IPL 2024 MI Team players list spinners, MI had two primary keepers in their side before the Auction in the form of Kumar Kartikeya and Piyush Chawla, and they added one more spinner in the form of leg spinner Shreyas Gopal.

Pacers: Akash Madhwal, Dilshan Madhushanka (o), Gerald Coetzee (o), Jason Behrendorff (o), Jasprit Bumrah & Nuwan Thushara (o)

Finally, talking about the pacers, this is an area where Mumbai Indians did the maximum shopping. Having released a lot of Overseas and Indian pacers, MI added three solid names in the pace department in the form of Dilshan Madhushanka, Gerald Coetzee, and Nuwan Thushara. Aside from these three, MI already had three more solid pacers in the form of Akash Madhwal, Jasprit Bumrah, and Jason Behrendorff.

So, that’s about the IPL 2024 MI Team players list and full squad details. Meanwhile, talking about MI’s first-choice playing 11, we should see Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan as openers. With Green not there, we should mostly see Tilak Varma at 3, SKY at 4, and Hardik Pandya at 5. Tim David at 6 and Mohammad Nabi at 7 should complete the finishing duties. Whereas Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee, and Jason Behrendorff should be the primary bowlers in the side.

Meanwhile, for the impact players, Mumbai Indians should mostly rely on Vishnu Vinod, Nehal Wadhera, Shreyas Gopal, Akash Madhwal, and Arjun Tendulkar.
