A total of 19 names in focus for Lucknow Super Giants as we look at the full IPL 2024 LSG retained players and released names list.
One of the two newest franchises in the Indian Premier League, the Lucknow Super Giants have had two really good seasons since their debut in 2022. While they couldn’t end as champions or Runner in any of the seasons, they still finished in the Playoffs on both occasions. While KL Rahul led the first season, his injury forced LSG to play Krunal Pandya as the leader.
But, as happy news, KL Rahul is back to lead the team for IPL 2024, uness of course, he gets injured again. Aside from KL Rahul’s comeback, LSG made the maximum changes in the trading window. While they released Romario Shehard to MI and Avesh Khan to RR, they brought in Devudtt Padikkal from Rajasthan Royals.
Overall, seeing the IPL 2024 LSG Retained Players list, Lucknow Super Giants have retained 19 players ahead of the Auction. The list includes 3 batters, 2 wicket-keepers, 3 spin all-rounders, 4 pace all-rounders, 2 spinners, and 5 pacers. The team currently has INR 13.15 Cr in their Auction kitty, which they can use to buy a maximum of 6 players including 2 overseas players. Ayush Badoni, Devdutt Padikkal (t), KL Rahul (c), Nicholas Pooran (o&wk) & Quinton de Kock (o&wk)
Lucknow Super Giants retained a total of 3 batters and 2 wicket-keepers for IPL 2024 Auction. While KL Rahul and Ayush Badoni are the batters retained by LSG, they traded in Devdutt Padikkal from RR. Aside from these 3, LSG have only overseas wicket-keepers in the form of Nicholas Pooran and Quinton de Kock. Overall LSG released Karan Sharma, Manan Vohra, and Karun Nair among the batters.
All-rounders – 7
Deepak Hooda, Krishnappa Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kyle Mayers (o), Marcus Stoinis (o), Prerak Mankad & Yudhvir Charak
Coming to All-rounders, LSG have retained 7 of them with 3 being spin all-rounders and 4 being pace all-rounders. Among the ones retained by LSG, the ones that will be in focus are Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Kyle Mayers, and Marcus Stoinis. Overall, LSG released 3 all-rounders in the form of Daniel Sams, Romario Shephard, and Suyansh Shegde.
Bowlers – 7
Amit Mishra, Mark Wood (o), Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Naveen Ul-Haq (o), Ravi Bishnoi & Yash Thakur
Coming to the bowlers, LSG have retained 7 names with 2 being spinners and 5 being pacers. All bowlers retained by LSG are quality bowlers with the best being Mark Wood and Ravi Bishnoi. Overall, Lucknow Super Giants released 4 bowlers in the form of Arpit Guleria, Avesh Khan, Jaydev Unadkat, and Swapnil Singh.

IPL 2024 LSG Retained Players Playing 11:
Coming to the first-choice playing 11 for LSG ahead of the Auction, we understand that KL Rahul wants to play in the middle-order. If that’s the case, we should mostly see Devdutt Padikkal and Quinton de Kock opening the batting with either Deepak Hooda or Ayush Badoni at 3. Numbers 4 and 5 should be one of KL Rahul or Nicholas Pooran. Whereas Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya should play as finishers. The top 4 bowlers for LSG are Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, and Yash Thakur.
IPL 2024 Auction LSG Strategy:
