IPL 2023: Full Retained and Released Players list for Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans retain 20 players as we look at their full retained and released squad list for IPL 2023.

The IPL 2022 champions and the IPL debutants of last year, the Gujarat Titans retained a total of 18 players ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction. As they say, don’t fix something that is not broken, and Ashish Nehra-led management did exactly the same with their retentions.

The team retained almost all their core players, barring a few exceptions, which was expected. The team traded the expensive Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to Kolkata Knight Riders, and these trades allowed them more purse value.

Overall, Gujarat Titans retained a total of 3 batters, 2 wicket-keepers, 6 all-rounders, 3 spinners, and 4 pacers. The team currently has INR 19.25 Crores in their kitty with a space to buy 7 more players including a maximum of 3 more overseas players.

So, here’s the list of the full retained squad and players for Gujarat Titans for IPL 2023.

IPL 2023 – Gujarat Titans Retained Players Details:

Abhinav Manohar, David Miller (o), Shubman Gill, Matthew Wade (o&wk), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), B Sai Sudharsan, Darshan Nalkande, Hardik Pandya (c), Jayant Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, Vijay Shankar, Alzarri Joseph (o), Mohammed Shami, Noor Ahmad (o), Pradeep Sangwan, R Sai Kishore, Rashid Khan (o) & Yash Dayal

Total Players Retained: 18 // Purse Remaining: INR 19.25 Crores

Analyzing the squad, Gujarat Titans have a good starting 11, but would need to invest in a few good players and backups. To start, the Gujarat Titans would need a good overseas opener to support Shubman Gill. They would also need a good Indian or overseas all-rounder or finisher as a support to Tewatia and Miller. Finally, a strong Indian Wicket-keeper as a backup to Saha is a must.

IPL 2023 – Gujarat Titans Released Players Details:

Talking about the released players, Gujarat let go of overseas duo Dominic Drakes and Jason Roy. Whereas they traded out Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to KKR. From the Indian players’ point of view, GT released Gurkeerat Singh and Varun Aaron.

So, here’s the official released players list for Delhi Capitals for IPL 2023.

IPL 2023: Official Released Players List for Gujarat Titans

Players Released: Dominic Drakes (o), Gurkeerat Singh, Jason Roy (o), Varun Aaron & Lockie Ferguson (Traded to KKR) & Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Traded to KKR)

IPL 2023 – Gujarat Titans Best Playing 11 from Retained Players:

Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), B Sai Sudarsan, Hardik Pandya, David Miller, Matthew Wade, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami & Yash Dayal

Talking about the best playing 11 from the list of Retained players, Gujarat Titans have a near-to-same playing 11 that played in IPL 2022. Gill and Saha shall open with B Sai Sudarsan at 3, Captain Hardik Pandya at 4, David Miller at 5, finisher Matthew Wade at 6, and All-rounder Rahul Tewatia at 7. They could also play Abhinav Manohar at 3 for Sudharsan.

In terms of bowling, Alzaari Joseph seems a good replacement for Lockie Ferguson, who was traded to KKR. Alongside Alzaari, Mohammed Shami and Yash Dayal seem to be the first-choice pacers with Hardik Pandya chipping in as a fourth pacer. The spin department shall be led by Rashid Khan with good support from Tewatia. The team can also play an additional spinner for Joseph to suit Ahmedabad pitches.
