Having said that, the last two have been the most special ones. While Sam Curran and Cameron Green got a salary of INR 18.5 and 17.5 Cr respectively for IPL 2023, the record was broken in IPL 2023 when Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins got a salary of INR 24.75 and 20.5 Cr respectively.
It’s no surprise why overseas players are always in demand in IPL. Given the demand of playing only 4 players per match, the supply of overseas players is always in abundance. Players from across the world try to participate in the Indian Premier League, but only the lucky 80 players get an opportunity to play. Chennai Super Kings had retained 5 overseas players in the form of Devon Conway, Mitchell Santner, Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana, and Matheesha Mathirana. Whereas, they selected All-rounders Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra, and Pacer Mustafizur Rahman in the IPL 2024 Auction. Among the 8 overseas players, CSK currently have 1 wicket-keeper, 4 all-rounders, 1 spinner, and 2 pacers.
