GT vs CSK to kick start the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League as we look at the confirmed official fixtures download pdf for IPL 2023. 

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to kick-start on the last day of the financial year, March 31. It’s the defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on the most consistent side in the history of IPL, the Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. 

Similar to last year, the format for IPL 2023 remains the same. A total of 74 matches including 4 Playoff matches shall be played for a period of 2 months. While every team will play a total of 14 group-stage matches, not every team would end up playing the other none teams twice.

The 10 teams are divided into two groups in a random draw. MI, Delhi Capitals, KKR, LSG, and RR are placed in Group A. Whereas CSK, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, RCB, and SRH are placed in Group. The teams of the same group will play each other once and play the teams of the other group twice.

Overall, IPL 2023 shall see a total of 18 double-headers. While 16 double-headers are on weekend, the other two double-headers are on Thursday. For the double-headers, the afternoon matches shall start at 3:30 pm IST. Whereas the evening matches shall be played as usual at 7:30 pm IST. 

In terms of venues, IPL 2023 will switch back to the same Home and Away format as we had seen in 2019 and before. As usual, teams play 7 home matches and 7 away matches. However, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals will play some of their home matches at Dharamshala and Guwahati respectively.

Meanwhile, to recap, Mumbai Indians are the most successful IPL team with five trophies to their name. Whereas CSK follow them with 4 trophies and KKR with 2 trophies.

Also, there have been a few changes in the personnel ahead of IPL 2023. Key players like Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Prasidh Krishna have been ruled out of IPL 2023 due to injuries.
