India Tour of South Africa 2023 – Complete Final Schedule Details

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently confirmed the official schedule for Team India’s full-fledged tour of South Africa 2023 towards the end of the year. Team India shall be touring South Africa for an all-format series towards the end of the year starting December 10. 

The India tour of South Africa 2023 begins on December 10 with the 3-match T20 series. This shall be followed by 3-match ODI series, which begins on December 17. Finally, Team India shall play the 2-match T20 series, which is a part of the World Test Championship, and begins on December 26. 

Given the T20 series is happening after the ODI World Cup 2023, it would act as a foundation on how Team India would go about their squad for T20 World Cup 2024. The main question that Team India would ask is whether they continue playing the young breed, or bring back the experienced players in the form of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, etc.  

South Africa vs India 2023 Official T20I Series Schedule:

• 1st T20I – December 10 @ Durban, 9:30 pm IST
• 2nd T20I – December 12 @ Gqeberha, 9:30 pm IST
• 3rd T20I – December 14 @ Johannesburg, 9:30 pm IST

The 3-match ODI series will then follow the T20 series, and shall begin on December 10. The ODI series matches are slated to start at 2 pm IST. Whereas the venue for the matches shall be Johannesburg, Gqeberha, and Paarl. It would be interesting to see how Team India go about selecting the ODI squad post ODI World Cup 2023. 

South Africa vs India 2023 Official ODI Series Schedule:

• 1st ODI – December 17 @ Johannesburg, 2 pm IST 
• 2nd ODI – December 19 @ Gqeberha, 2 pm IST 
• 3rd ODI – December 21 @ Paarl, 2 pm IST 

Finally, the tour shall see a 2-match Test series as a part of the World Test Championship. This would only be the second time India would be playing South Africa in South Africa for a 2-match Test series. The last time it happened was in 2013. Importantly, India have never won a Test series in South Africa, and this could be their best chance. 

Meanwhile, the first Test match shall be played at Centurion from December 26 to December 30. Whereas the second Test match shall be played at Cape Town from January 03 to January 07. Both matches shall begin at 1:30 pm IST. Here’s the complete Test series schedule.
