These two are a part of the three teams trio to have not won the trophy in the Indian Premier League. Both have played the IPL final once. While PBKS played in 2014, Delhi Capitals played in 2021. 

Both teams would want to start the 2024 campaign on a winning note, and for that, they do have a strong squad. While Punjab Kings will be led by their regular captain, Shikhar Dhawan, Delhi Capitals will be led by Rishabh Pant, who will be making a comeback this season after missing the last season due to injury. Punjab Kings will mostly see Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow as their openers. Bairstow had missed the last season due to injury, but is expected to be fit for this season. With Dhawan and Bairstow at the top, Punjab Kings have a settled opening combination. However, the same can’t be said about the following two players.

Given the lack of options for PBKS, they only have Prabsimran Singh and Atharva Taide as the two best options for the number 3 and number 4 positions. There is clear inexperience here, and that will be the only area for PBKS to worry about. Following these four, we should see Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma for the finisher role. Both are aggressive players that will play a crucial role for PBKS.

Meanwhile, for the bowling lineup, PBKS are loaded, and they have six quality options including the impact player Rahul Chahar. For the pacers, PBKS have four solid options Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, and Harshal Patel. Whereas for the spin options, PBKS have Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar. Delhi Capitals Best Predicted Playing 11 

Delhi Capitals will be delighted with the return of their Captain and leader, Rishabh Pant. With Rishabh Pant back, we should expect Delhi Capitals to have a full-force top-order in the form of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw. It will be an interesting season for both players as one is at the flag end of his career, and the other is only about to revive his career.

With the top 2 openers set, Delhi will see Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant at 3 and 4 respectively. This is a solid top 4 if they can perform to their potential. While DC have a solid top 4, what follows this isn’t very inspiring. With Harry Brook missing, DC will mostly see Tristan Stubbs at the number 5 position, with Axar Patel and Kumar Khushagra following him. This doesn’t seem to be the most reliable, but a potential batting lineup.

Finally, for the bowling, the availability of Anrich Nortje will be the most important question. Nortje, only a few days ago, was playing in South Africa. So, it remains to be seen if he has already traveled to India. However, given the importance of IPL, it seems he should play, if available. With Nortje as the leading bowler, DC will have Kuldeep Yadav, Lalit Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, and Khaleel Ahmed as the top important bowlers.
