India vs Bangladesh Women 2023: Complete ODI and T20 Squad

After a gap of almost 3 months, the Indian Wome’s cricket team will be gearing up for their first International assignment. The Women’s team last played in the historic Women’s Premier League 3 months back, and will now be gearing up for their first assignment after WPL, the Bangladesh Tour.

The limited-overs Bangladesh Tour begins on July 9, and will comprise of 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs. With a week to go for the series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally announced the official ODI and T20 series squad for the Women’s cricket team.

So, what are the key changes and the new players that have been added to the squad? Well, let’s analyze the 20 Women players that BCCI have selected for Team India for the 2023 ODI and T20 series vs Bangladesh. 

Official T20 Squad:

The T20 series sees a solid revamp in the squad as compared to the last T20 squad that played in the T20 World Cup 2023. A total of 18 players have been selected for the T20 series. The list includes 7 batters, 2 wicket-keepers, 4 all-rounders, and 5 bowlers.

From the names that are missing, the list includes Wicket-keeper Richa Ghosh, All-rounder Sneh Rana, Spinners Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Radha Yadav, and Pacers Renuka Singh and Sneha Pandey. That’s a total of 6 big names missing in the revamped T20 squad. 

The new players that have got an opportunity for the T20 series include batters Amonjot Kaur and Sabbhineni Meghana, Wicket-keeper Uma Chetry, All-rounders Anusha Bareddy and Minnu Mana, and bowlers Meghna Singh, Monica Patel, and Rashi Kanojiya. So, here’s the official squad for Team India for the T20 series vs Bangladesh.

Batters: Amanjot Kaur, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Jemimah Rodrigues, Sabbhineni Meghana, Shafali Verma & Smriti Mandhana (vc)

WKs: Uma Chetry & Yastika Bhatia

All-rounders: Anusha Bareddy, Deepti Sharma, Devika Vaidya & Minnu Mana

Bowlers: Anjali Sarvani, Meghna Singh, Monica Patel, Pooja Vastrakar & Rashi Kanojiya

Official ODI Squad:

Coming to the ODI squad, the Women’s cricket team last played an ODI in September 2022 (during England Tour); that’s exactly 9 months back. As compared to the last ODI series where 17 players were a part of it, the Bangladesh ODI series will see a total of 18 players in the squad. 

The players that are missing in the ODI squad as compared to the last one are wicket-keeper Taniya Bhatia, batters Dayalan Hemalatha and Sabbheneni Meghana, All-rounder Simran Bahadur, and bowlers Jhulan Goswami and Renuka Singh. To highlight, Jhulan Goswami retired from all forms of cricket last September. 

The new players taking their place include batters Amonjot Kaur and Priya Punia, wicket-keeper Uma Chetry, All-rounders Anusha Bareddy and Deepika Vaidya, and bowlers Monica Patel and Rashi Kanojiya. So, here’s the official squad for Team India for the ODI series vs Bangladesh.
