IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Final Squad List

Faf du Plessis to continue to lead as we look at the confirmed final IPL 2024 RCB squad list and Royal Challengers Bangalore players names.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore team will be entering their 17th year in search of their maiden IPL trophy. The franchise with unarguably the biggest fan base has kept their fans waiting for eternity with a common phrase circulating every year, ‘ee sala cup namde’. It’s a painful sight for any RCB fan, but the fans have never given up on them as they believe one day they will see the dawn of the trophy.

With that hope, RCB have assembled a squad that seems to be following their usual trend. The squad seems superb from the batting perspective, but when we talk about the bowling, it seems a big misalignment in terms of quality. Sure, RCB have bowlers in quantity with as many as 17 names in the side. But can they cope with such an underpar bowling lineup? Well, only time will tell. Before that, let’s look at the official confirmed squad list for RCB for IPL 2024. 

IPL 2024 RCB Squad List and Royal Challengers Bangalore Players:

Batters – Faf du Plessis (c&o), Rajat Patidar, Saurav Chauhan, Suyash Prabhudessai, Virat Kohli & Will Jacks (o)

If there is one area that defines the RCB DNA, it is the batting department. There is no dearth of quality, and the likes of Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Will Jacks, and Rajat Patidar show exactly that. With these four as the primary batters, RCB also have Suyash Prabhudessai and Saurav Chauhan as the pure batters in the side as good backups.

WKs – Anuj Rawat & Dinesh Karthik

Talking about wicket-keepers, RCB have only two names in the side, and those are Indian wicket-keepers, Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat. With only two names in the side, RCB have no other option but to play both or at least one of them. While Anuj is a top-order player, his role may get revised to that of a finisher given the number of top-order players in the side.

All-rounders – Cameron Green (o), Glenn Maxwell (o), Mahipal Lomror, Manoj Bhandage, Mayank Dagar, Swapnil Singh & Tom Curran (o)

Coming to the all-rounders, RCB have two solid all-rounders in the form of Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell. Both are confirmed to play, if available. But if we talk about the backups, they have Tom Curran as a good backup option, and Mahipal, Lomror, Manoj Bhandage, Mayank Dagar, and Swapnil Singh as decent backup all-rounders. 

Spinners – Himanshu Sharma & Karn Sharma

Coming to spinners, this is where things go haywire for the RCB team. This is undoubtedly the weakest spin attack you would ever see with Karn Sharma as their leading spinner, and decent support from Himanshu Sharma, Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror, etc. Unlike previous years where they had Yuzvendra Chahal or Wanindu Hasaranga, this time around, they don’t have that quality. 

Pacers – Akash Deep, Alzarri Joseph (o), Lockie Ferguson (o), Mohammed Siraj, Rajan Kumar, Reece Topley (o), Vyshak Vijaykumar & Yash Dayal

Finally, talking about the primary pacers, RCB have Mohammed Siraj, Recce Topley, Alzarri Joseph, and Lockie Ferguson as their best pacers. While RCB have three overseas pacers, it’s unfortunate, but can’t be helped as RCB can play only one of them, unless for injury to Faf, Maxwell, or Green. In addition, RCB have  Akash Deep, Rajan Kumar, Vyshak Vijaykumar, and Yash Dayal as decent backup pacers.

Bowlers: Akash Deep, Alzarri Joseph (o), Himanshu Sharma, Karn Sharma, Lockie Ferguson (o), Mohammed Siraj, Rajan Kumar, Reece Topley (o), Vyshak Vijaykumar & Yash Dayal

Talking about the best first-choice playing 11 for RCB irrespective of the impact player rule, we should see Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli as openers with Rajat Patidar following them at number 3. Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell should play at 4 and 5 respectively with Dinesh Karthik and Suyash Prabhudessai following them as finishers. In terms of bowlers, we should see Mohammed Siraj, Alzarri Joseph, Karn Sharma, and Yash Dayal.
