IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) New Squad Players List
Aiden Markaram vs Pat Cummins for Captaincy as we look at the new official squad players for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for IPL 2024.
If there is one team that has always been in focus for its Overseas players, it is the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Take the last 8 years for example. It was David Warner and Rashid Khan, who were the most famous players for them. Then came Kane Williamson for a few years, and now it is Aiden Markram, Henrich Klaasen, and others. It has mostly been an Overseas players-focused team.
Additionally, Sunrisers Hyderabad are one of the only two teams in IPL 2024 with an Overseas Captain. While Aiden Markram is currently the leader of the pack, the addition of Pat Cummins does make things interesting. Most probably it will be Makram to lead, but until it is official, let’s look at the new squad and players list for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for IPL 2024.
IPL 2024 SRH Squad List and Sunrisers Hyderabad
Batters – Abdul Samad, Aiden Markram (o), Anmolpreet Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi & Travis Head (o)
When we talk about the batters for Sunrisers Hyderabad, there is a great mix of Indian and Overseas experienced players. While the Indian contingent consists of Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Abdul Samad, and Anmolpreet Singh, the Overseas contingent consists of Aiden Markram and Travis Head. Of the six batters they have, four are almost sure-short staters in the final playing 11.
WKs – Glenn Phillips (o), Heinrich Klaasen (o) & Upendra Yadav
In terms of wicket-keepers, SRH have two Overseas keepers in the form of Glenn Phillips and Heinrich Klaasen, and an Indian wicket-keeper in the form of Upendra Yadav. Given the options, it is pretty much clear that SRH will have an Overseas player, and preferably Heinrich Klaasen as their first-choice keeper in the playing 11.
All-rounders – Abhishek Sharma, Marco Jansen (o), Nitish Reddy, Sanvir Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar & Wanindu Hasaranga (o)
Coming to all-rounders, SRH does have players in quantity with as many as 7 names. But honestly, none of these 7 players can actually be termed as full-potent all-rounders. For example, Marco Jansen can bowl really well, but his batting is average. Similarly, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Wanindu Hasaranga are good at bowling, but batting is again average.
Spinners – Jhathavedh Subramanyan & Mayank Markande
Coming to spinners, other than the quality spin all-rounders Abhishek Sharma, Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar, and Wanindu Hasaranga, SRH have Mayank Markande and Jhathavedh Subramanyan as two primary spinners in the squad. Both are leg spinners; thus complementing the finger spinners in the all-rounders category.
Pacers – Akash Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Fazalhaq Farooqi (o), Jaydev Unadkat, Pat Cummins (o), T Natarajan & Umran Malik
Finally, talking about the pacers, SRH not only have a great mix of Indian and Overseas pacers, but also left-arm and right-arm pacers. While Akash Singh, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Jaydev Unadkat, and T Natarajan are really good left-arm pacers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, and Pat Cummins are really good right-arm pacers.

Talking about the first-choice playing 11 for SRH, we should mostly see Travis Head and Mayank Agarwal opening the batting for SRH. With these two, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, and Abhishek Sharma will form the middle-order. In terms of finishers, SRH will mostly depend on Heinrich Klaasen, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Washington Sundar. Whereas the bowling shall depend on Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, and impact player Mayank Markande.
