TATA WPL 2024 Confirmed Playing 11 for All 5 Teams

Mumbai Indians, the defending champions in focus as we look at the TATA WPL 2024 strongest playing 11 for all 5 teams post the auction.

After a historic occasion in Women’s cricket in the form of the WPL 2023, the second edition of the Women’s Premier League will kick-start in just a month’s time in February. Unlike the Indian Premier League which has 10 teams participating in the tournament, the Women’s Premier League has only 5 teams, three of which are also owned by the same owner as IPL.

Needless to say, the first season was a huge success in the Women’s Premier League, and all are eagerly waiting for the second season. It was the Mumbai Indians who won the first season with Delhi Capitals as the runner-up. However, taking nothing away from the kind of competitive cricket the other 3 teams played.

Meanwhile, only recently did we witness the historic WPL 2024 Auction, and all teams have already finalized their squad. With the squad and players list in front of us, how about we look at the TATA WPL 2024 strongest playing 11 for all 5 teams post the Auction?

TATA WPL 2024 Strongest Playing 11 for all 5 Teams

Delhi Capitals

Starting with the Delhi Capitals, the DC team made a few minor changes in their squad post the WPL 2024 Auction. The team will see Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning as openers with Alice Capsey, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Marizanne Kapp forming a solid top 5. DC added Anna Sutherland in the Auction, who will play at 6 with keeper Taniya Bhatia as the finisher.

The bowling shall be led by Shikha Pandey with support from Minnu Mani, Radha Yadav, and Titas Sadhu. Overall, DC have a solid batting lineup that seems to be their strength. While there are good names in the bowling department too, the likes of Minnu Mani and Titas Sadhu are still young and inexperienced.

Gujarat Giants

Talking about the Gujarat Giants, there has been a good overhaul in the team post the Auction. The GG team should see Beth Mooney opening the batting alongside Laura Wolvaardt. The newly added Phoebe Litchfield should play at 3 with Harleen Deol and Dayalan Hemalatha to follow. This is a good top 5, but the Indian counterparts aren’t as strong as we have seen in the other teams.

Meanwhile, the finishing duties shall rely on Ashleigh Gardner, Kashvi Gautam, and Sneh Rana. Whereas the bowling shall depend on Mannat Kashyap, Meghna Singh, and Shabnam Shakil. Overall, GG have a fairly decent squad, but the inexperience in the bowling department may be a cause of worry for them.

Mumbai Indians

Coming to the defending champions, Mumbai Indians, they seem to have all their bases covered when it comes to their strongest playing 11. Be it their batting or bowling, the MI team is strong in all departments. Overall, for Mumbai Indians, the key players shall be Hayley Mathews, Nat Sciver, Harmanpreet Kaur, Amelia Kerr, Saika Ishaque, and Pooja Vastrakar.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Coming to the crowd favorite, the RCB team have made a few changes in their squad post the Auction. We should see a strong top 5 for RCB with Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine as openers. These two shall be followed by Elysse Perry, Heather Knight, and Richa Ghosh. It’s a great top 5 as has been the history of the RCB team when it comes to batting.

But it is their bowling that shall once again decide their fate in WPL 2024. With All-rounders Kanika Ahuja and Georgia Wareham as finishers, the bowling shall depend on Asha Shobhana, Shreyanka Patil, Ekta Bisht, and Renuka Singh. While these are good names on paper, the way they perform will decide the ‘Ee sala cup namde’ paraphrase.

UP Warriorz

Talking about the TATA WPL 2024 strongest playing 11 for UP Warriorz, the team will see Alyssa Healy and young Vrinda Dinesh as openers. Kiran Navgire should play at 3 with Tahlia McGrath, Grace Harris, and Deepti Sharma in the lower middle-order role. Meanwhile, Sophie Ecclestone and Parshavi Chopra should take care of finishing duties.

Coming to the bowling, UP Warriorz will depend on their star bowler, Sophie Ecclestone. With Sophie there, the rest of the bowling shall see S. Yashasri, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, and Anjali Sarvani. While the batting is pretty strong for UPW, their bowling isn’t as strong on paper as compared to the other teams.

So, that’s about the TATA WPL 2024 strongest playing 11 for all 5 teams. Overall, Mumbai Indians once again have the best 11 on paper with RCB and Delhi Capitals having the second-best and third-best respectively. However, UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants are no novices by any means, and if they play to their potential, they can be a competitive side.
