India vs Australia 2023: Complete Final ODI Squad and Players List

KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma to lead as we look at the official squad and players list for the India vs Australia 2023 ODI series.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the squad for the upcoming ODI series vs Australia. Australia, a few days announced an 18-member squad, and India in response announced two squads – one for the first two ODIs and the other for the third ODI.

Team India are going with a cautious approach by announcing two separate squads for the ODI series. While the first two ODIs will see Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya getting rest, the final ODI will see all these five players making a comeback; thus playing full-strength in the 3rd ODI.

Team India will be led by KL Rahul as the primary Captain and Ravindra Jadeja as his deputy in the first two ODIs. Whereas the last and final ODI will see Rohit Sharma as the leader with Hardik Pandya as his deputy. Surprisingly, Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t been given any leadership role even as he lead the Indian T20I team in Ireland.

Squad Breakdown for Team India:

Overall, Team India have selected a 15-member squad for the first two ODIs as compared to a 17-member squad for the 3rd and final ODI. While Tilak, Ruturaj, and Prasidh are a part of only the first two ODIs, Rohit, Axar, Virat, Hardik, and Kuldeep are a part of only the third and final ODI.

From the key players that are included, Ravichandran Ashwin’s name is the highlight. India had been contemplating an off-spinner ever since they started playing the Asia Cup 2023. While Sundar was already added to the squad, Ravichandran Ashwin makes a fascinating comeback as the veteran off-spinner in the squad.

So, here’s the official squad for Team India for the first two ODIs, third ODI, and Australia’s squad for the ODI series. The ODI series starts on September 22 with second and third ODI being played on September 24 and September 27 respectively. Mohali, Indore, and Rajkkot shall host the three ODIs.
